Eye Examinations
Our doctors and staff take immense pride in
delivering an extremely thorough evaluation of your eyes. During the course of your exam, we will determine a number of
things—the determination of your spectacle or contact lens refraction being
just one of them. We will ask you
about your visual needs as they relate to your occupation or hobbies. We can then perform the appropriate testing that allows us to advise you
which lens options will best satisfy those needs. Just as importantly, we will perform a comprehensive check of the health
of your eyes, including evaluation for cataracts, glaucoma, and corneal
problems. Were you aware that high
blood pressure can cause changes inside your eyes? By either dilating your pupils and/or using our state-of-the-art Optomap
technology we can fully examine the health of your retina to screen for those
changes related to hypertension or diabetes, amongst many other things.
Contact Lenses
Contact lenses are one of the most common forms
of vision correction available. They
come in all shapes, sizes, and prescriptions. Our doctors will work with you to determine which option will work best
for you and assist you through the initial fitting process. We fit all types of lenses currently available including disposable soft
lenses and gas permeable hard lenses. Specialty lenses such as those for
astigmatism, bifocals, and keratoconus are routinely fit in our offices. We
welcome hard-to-fit patients and often receive referrals from other doctors on
these types of patients. If you
have any desire to wake up in the morning with comfortable, crisp, clear,
vision; please ask us about the new Focus Night and Day contact lenses.
Disease and Injuries
Diagnosis, management and medical treatment of
ocular diseases and injuries are handled daily in our offices. Our doctors are
all licensed to prescribe therapeutic pharmaceutical agents in the treatment of
ocular disease. We now have cutting-edge laser scanning instruments like
the HRT II and Optomap to assist us in the diagnosis and management of
glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and other retinal
degenerations or injuries. If eye
surgery or other specialized testing is needed, prompt referral will be made to
the appropriate medical specialist.
Children's Vision
Examination of a child’s visual status often
requires special equipment and a special approach. Every effort is made to make
your child feel comfortable in our offices. In this manner disorders such as
lazy eye, crossed eyes, reduced visual acuity and reading problems can be
accurately determined. We strongly urge that all children have a thorough,
professional eye examination by the time they are three years old. If you
suspect any problems however, your child’s vision can be assessed at any age.
Laser Vision Correction
One of the most exciting technological advances
in the last decade has been the improvement of laser vision correction. We will
be happy to discuss all of the various options with you and make recommendations
as indicated. In most circumstances, we are able to provide the majority of the
post-operative care, conveniently ensuring the patient the best results
possible. Feel free to ask any questions that you may have about this exciting
new approach to vision correction. (see www.ceilasik.com) |
